THE COOLEST MUSIC VENUE IN TOWN
During this COVID-19 pandemic, we know that many of our Back Room Chicago friends and family would like to help those who are in need. We put together some links where you can directly help others or get help through these difficult times. Keep a daily check on the site for new updates and participation.
Additionally if you need help with food, children’s supplies and possibly rent; some of these sites are offering assistance.
Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund
In collaboration with the City of Chicago, The Chicago Community Trust and United Way of Metro Chicago launched the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund to unite the funds raised by Chicago’s philanthropies, corporations and individuals to be disbursed to nonprofit organizations across the region.
As we are individually taking steps to protect our own families, workplaces and neighborhoods from the effects of the virus, let’s not forget the impact this will have on our neighbors. Missing paychecks, the inability to pay rent, and a lack of access to food and essential supplies are realities that many in our region will have to face in the coming weeks. This fund helps to support our neighbors across the City of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
If you would like to donate to specific charities, here are several notable ones:
Chicago’s Food Bank
This is a much needed necessity. The below links allow a person to help in several ways, or to receive help as well.
If you need help with food during this crisis:
To help volunteer to pack food for those in need during this crisis:
Cradles to Crayons CHICAGO

A Safe Haven Foundation

My Block My Hood My City
My Block My Hood My City is working to ensure seniors have access to hand sanitizer, health supplements, toiletries, and food. Seniors and those living with disabilities are most at risk with the continued spread of the virus. You can support their Senior Viral Response with a donation; funds will be used to support their ongoing operations and continued efforts to provide Chicago seniors with much-needed resources.
Meals On Wheels Chicago
Serving Chicago’s home bound seniors and people with disabilities since 1987, your donation now will help more than ever to aid people in need of food.
In the chicago.gov site, there is a section entitled “Rental Assistance,” under Family & Support Services. This gives direction on how to apply for potential rental assistance. We have included the link below. (It is a long link but if you click on it, it will take you directly to the right section.)
We at the Back Room Chicago have you in our thoughts and prayers and wish you health, happiness and safety.
